The stopping distance is determined by the reactions of the driver and the braking equipment

  • the effectiveness of the brakes (and response during the course of the brake)
  • the condition of the tires, road surface (grip ratio) and the brake components
  • the speed and total weight of the vehicle (including driver, etc.)
